It's the Microwaves, Stupid! :)
Sorry to rain on everyone's electromagnetic parade, but...It's the Microwaves
Hello,My name is Paul Raymond Doyon. I am 46 years old. I have been married for 15 years and have a seven-year-old son. I have a BA in Psychology, an MA in Teaching, and an MA in Advanced Japanese Studies. I taught EFL in Japan for over 18 years and then lived in Yunnan Province, China, where I taught both EFL and Japanese at Yunnan Normal University. After China, I moved to Auroville, a sustainable community in India, which does not allow cell phone towers on its twenty square kilometers of land.
In November of 2004, I started working at Kyushu University in the city of Fukuoka, Japan – working as an Associate Professor teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Within six months of moving into a new apartment and starting my new job I started to become ill. I gradually developed more and more adverse symptoms. First, I found myself suddenly waking up earlier and earlier until I got to the point where I could barely sleep anymore. I progressively developed the following symptoms: (1) excessive thirst, (2) night sweats, (3) brain fog, (4) swollen lymph glands, (5) fatigue (6) insomnia, (7) a weakened immune system, (8) nausea, (9) heart pain and palpitations, (10) back pain, (11) unexplained anxiety, (12) neurological symptoms, (13) vision problems (14) testicular pain, (15) loss of appetite, (16) rapid weight loss, (17) frequent urination, (18) dry eyes and mouth, (19) impaired memory, (20) inability to concentrate, (21) body temperature regulation problems ( i.e. chills), (22) bone pain, (23) intestinal disturbances, (24) skin rashes, (25) increased allergic sensitivities, and so on.
After searching on the Internet, I determined that I had the symptoms of what was most likely prematurely and misleadingly dubbed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) in 1988, four years after droves of people in the USA started complaining of the same symptoms in 1984. 1984 is ominously also the same year that the first commercial 1st generation (1G) cell phone system spread across the United States. (This is also interestingly the time when the phenomena of what is called Colony Collapse Disorder [CCD], where whole colonies of bees started dying, made its initial appearance. Now, along with this microwave (MW) technology CCD has spread around the world and is now seemingly affecting food supplies.)
I went to see several specialist doctors in Japan who confirmed my suspicions and also gave me the common diagnosis in Japan of Autonomic Nervous System Disorder. Blood and other tests revealed high titers of Epstein Barr Virus, Cytomegalo Virus, Coxsackie Virus, Mycoplasma, Toxoplasma, Candida and so on.As I progressively became sicker and sicker, I was no longer able to work. After searching on the Internet, I read one horror story after another of people who had contracted this strange syndrome and who had never recovered. Even the CDC states on their Website that CFS is an incurable disease. And even after over two decades they still say they do not know what causes this condition.
There have been a number of theories put forth as to what causes CFS stemming from viruses, mycoplasma, mercury toxicity, candida, mold, chemical toxicity, free radicals, depletion of the body's store of antioxidants, allergic reactions to genetics. Certainly, many of these are secondary factors contributing to the symptomology of this disease, which I firmly believe hence stem originally from a massive increase in an underlying cause: ambient EMR (especially microwave) permeating our environment.
After being ill for about six months and searching for answers about what causes this condition, I started to suspect electromagnetic radiation (EMR) – especially high frequency (HF) microwave radiation emitted by cell phones and cell-phone towers – as being the culprit. I had read of one person who had been ill for years with CFS and Crohn's Disease who claimed all his symptoms disappeared when he moved out from an apartment in a big city and into his parent's home out in the French countryside. I also noticed that I always felt better at night (as most people with CFS do) when most people are not using their cell phones – in spite of the fact that I was suffering from insomnia. Moreover, I would get these weird and unexplainable anxiety attacks at specific times of the day, which I later correlated with peak cell-phone usage times in Japan, where I was living at the time. Furthermore, I noticed that I would feel much better if I went to certain places, which I was later able to ascertain had less of this electrosmog now increasingly permeating the planet. Finally, I went to see an alternative doctor in Japan who stated very clearly in his brochure that disease is caused by a combination of factors: genetics, pathogens, chemical toxicity, metal toxicity, and - YES - exposure to Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR).
A little more research on the Internet revealed that the symptoms found in CFS are practically identical to what the Russians termed Microwave Sickness in the early seventies:
"In 1971, Zinaida V. Gordan and Maria N. Sadchikova of the USSR Institute of Labor Hygiene and Occupational Diseases described a comprehensive succession of symptoms, which they identified as Microwave Sickness. The initial symptoms are low blood pressure and slow pulse. The second stage includes headaches, dizziness, eye pain, sleeplessness, irritability, anxiety, stomach pain, nervous tension, inability to concentrate, hair loss, which are eventually followed by adrenal exhaustion and ischemic heart disease." (Becker, 1985, pp. 314-315)
Moreover, numerous research studies have found these same symptoms found in people living in the vicinity of cell-phone towers (AKA mobile-phone masts) and this set of symptoms has also more recently been termed Microwave Syndrome. Furthermore, it has been found by a number of researchers that after approximately five years cancer clusters start forming around these towers-of-death.
Dr. Henry Lai, of the University of Washington, had postulated that the effects of exposure to long-term non-ionizing radiation could very well be similar to the effects of short-term exposure to ionizing radiation. In fact, this seems to be exactly what we are seeing in the symptoms in a number of disease states, which appeared or vastly increased in number with the advent of the mobile phone and WiFi and a drastic increase in ambient EMR in our environment. For example, the following symptoms are found in Radiation Sickness, CFS, and what is known as Microwave Sickness:
- Swollen Lymph Nodes
- Intestinal Problems
- Impaired Memory
- Impaired Concentration
- Loss of Appetite
- Weight Loss
- Skin Rash
- Weakened Immunity
- Night sweats
- Heart Problems
- Visual Disturbances
- Flu-like Symptoms
The late Dr. Robert O. Becker – twice nominated for the Nobel Prize – wrote 21 years ago in his book, The Body Electric, the following with regards to the dangers EMR is posing:
"The dangers of electropollution are real and well documented. It changes, often pathologically, every biological system. What we don't know is exactly how serious these changes are, for how many people. The longer we as a society, put off a search for that knowledge, the greater the damage is likely to be and the harder it will be to correct." p. 304
After looking around in my immediate environment, I was able to ascertain that there were four 3rd generation (3G) cell-phone towers within a kilometer of my apartment, two of which were within 300 meters. Moreover, most of my adjacent neighbors had WiFi systems bleeding into my own apartment.
I finally found and decided to rent a log house up in the mountains of Saga Prefecture, Japan – out of cell phone range (one of the very few places) – and immediately started to feel better with the immediate (within 24 hours) disappearance of many symptoms and with most of the rest of these symptoms gradually disappearing over a two month period. I stayed in this log house for a total of four months.
As my body started to heal, I started to become extremely sensitive to the EMR emitted by cell-phone towers and cell phones. Whenever I got into range of a cell-phone tower or people with cell phones (often before I could even see them), I would start to feel sick with nausea, pain in my heart, pressure in my skull, and pain in the lymph nodes. If someone were to make a cell phone call near me, these symptoms would become extremely exasperated. It was very noticeable on our weekly drive into the city of Fukuoka that symptoms like headaches, irritability, brain fog, muscle aches, nausea, heart pain and so on would soon appear only to disappear again when we returned to our cabin in the microwave-free zone up in the mountains.
Some other things I noticed was that I always felt colder in Fukuoka (where it was actually much warmer) than I did in the mountains (where it was actually much colder). It seemed as if the exposure to MW radiation was also affecting my body's ability to regulate its temperature. Another interesting thing that happened is that my severe allergy to cedar pollen completely disappeared for the first time in twelve years – and this was in spite of the fact that we were living outside a small village called Cedar Mountain (Sugiyama) surrounded by nothing but cedar trees and that the news was reporting extremely high counts of cedar pollen in the air at that time of year. Since these hay fever symptoms had started in 1992, now in retrospect I firmly believe the cause was the then increasing amount of EMR in the environment since this is just about the time that cell phones started to become popular. We were also able to notice an abundance of frogs in our microwave-free zone and we found this in other areas with little or no cell-phone radiation. On the other hand, we were unable to find any frogs whatsoever in areas heavily radiated with cell-phone microwave radiation.
Fortunately, a number of treatment modalities have alleviated and helped me to cope with this electrosensitivity more effectively. One has been heavy-metal chelation therapy, where by using a number of sulfur compounds that bind with metals one is able to and draw these metals out of the body. Another has been the removal of all metal fillings from the mouth. And finally the daily use of a large variety of antioxidants has helped tremendously.
I decided to leave Japan – one of the most electropolluted countries in the world – to look for a new place to live. After traveling through Thailand, India, Myanmar, and Laos, I decided to make Yunnan Province in China my new home (but have since moved to Auroville, where there is even less of this radiation and a growing awareness about this problem among the people who live there. I decided against going to any advanced Western countries, since these also seem to have the most advanced microwave communication systems (3G and WiMax) and I seem to fare better with the 2nd generation systems now still prevalent in most developing countries. Also, I have – I believe due to microwave exposure – developed a number of sensitivities. At this point, more and more people are getting sick from long-term exposure and urgently seek a place – a refuge – in this world where they can heal in a place where there is no or little EMR emitted by cell phone towers and other sources.
With the advent of cellular-phone microwave technology and WiFi and the drastic increase in the ambient electromagnetic radiation it has produced, the world has seen a major increase in disease states like Autism, ADHD, Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) (AKA ME [Myalgic Encephalomyelitis] in the UK), Insomnia, Behavior Disorders, Allergies, Asthma, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), all forms of cancer (e.g. Brain Tumors, Breast Cancer, Leukemia, etc.), and so on.
At present, brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death in children in the USA surpassing leukemia in 2002. A recent British newspaper put the present rate of Autism at one in forty (while more conservative estimates in the USA are putting it at one in one hundred). Forty million Americans now take sleep medication for insomnia (up 60% since 2000) while 60% suffer from sleep disturbances. A recent survey by the CDC also put the number of people with CFS (PWC) at one in forty.
In 2002, a number of German doctors – belonging to the Interdisciplinary Society of Environmental Medicine – issued the Freiburger Appeal (now with close to 40,000 signatories) after noting a cause-and-effect relationship between the increase in wireless technology (cell phones, WiFi, DECT, etc.) and "a dramatic rise in severe and chronic diseases" like behavioral disorders, ADD, blood pressure disorders, heart attacks and strokes, brain-degenerative diseases, and cancers like leukemia and brain tumors.
In 2005, the World Health Organization (WHO) finally and officially recognized electro-sensitivity as a bona-fide disorder – in spite of the fact that collusion with the cell phone industry is well known. Also in 2005, the Vienna Doctors' Chamber (Wiener Arztekammer) – after the REFLEX Study clearly showed genetic damage – created posters (posted in hospital waiting rooms) warning of dangers and listing rules for use.
In Aug. 2007, a report - issued by an international group of renowned scientists, researchers, doctors, and public health experts – entitled the BioInitiative (http://www.bioinitiative.org/) warns
"Wireless technologies that rely on microwave radiation to send emails and voice communication are thousands of times stronger than levels reported to cause some health impacts. Prolonged exposure to radiofrequency and microwave radiation from cell phones, cordless phones, cell towers, WI-FI and other wireless technologies have been linked to physical symptoms including headache, fatigue, sleeplessness, dizziness, changes in brainwave activity, and impairment of concentration and memory."
In Sept. 2007, the German government warned its citizenry not to use mobile phones (only in emergencies) and WiFi. In Italy, children are now banned from bringing cell phones to schools. In Nov. 2007, the city of Paris voted to ban WiFi in Public Libraries. In Dec. 2007, an Australian Democrats commissioned discussion paper found microwave radiation from cell phone towers to very likely be behind the drastic rise in disease states like cancer, diabetes, asthma, allergies and Alzheimer's disease, etc.
In recent years there has been a severe disappearance in insects, amphibians (frogs, snakes, etc.) and birds. Research has indeed connected this disappearance with the global rise in ambient EMR in our environment.
In many places in the world (including the USA) there has been nothing but a media blackout regarding the danger this is posing to life on our planet. And now it seems that since they can no longer ignore the problem certain media outlets have unfortunately resorted to planting disinformation and trying to belittle this extremely serious problem by ridiculing it and the people aware they are being affected by it.Many people who know nothing whatsoever about this problem will try to argue with you by spewing out vacant cliches they heard or read somewhere (probably on TV or in the newspaper). However, these baseless arguments soon crumble like dust. It is unfortunate what people in the advertising (i.e. propaganda) industries know to be too true: That if you repeat something enough times, people don't just start believing it, they will actually start repeating it themselves.

Paul, that is a frightening story you told. I don't doubt your theory at all! At my chiropractor's office he shows pictures of people's brains before and after they have talked on their cell phone. Before, it looks normal and right afterward the area around the ear and the side of the head, looks very red. And he tells about how many people are getting and dying from brain tumors in that same area today. It is really scary that noone has thought about this before. And I imagine the US will be the latter to admit it or warn against it. Isn't that par for the course about so many other issues here? I myself have fibro and Epilepsy. I have had Epilepsy since I was a kid, way before cell phones and such, but my seizures got worse within the past 10 years, after I myself got a cell phone, and I developed fibro during the same 8 - 10 years. Coincidence? Hmm... I appreciate your bringing these ideas to our eyes. Good luck!

I've always thought there was alot to this. My family got our first microwave oven somewhere between 84 and 85. By 1986, I started to get health problems. And my grandmother developed stomach cancer a few years later, she was living with us. I really do believe that microwave ovens change the genetic and molecular structure of our foods. And God only knows what this does to our bodies. I don't believe it's safe at all. But it's too late. I've spent most of my life eating mostly microwaved foods. And what happens is, it's a vicious cycle. I'm too sick to cook a normal meal, so I end up reaching for anything I can microwave. And I'm sure all it does is further damage. I believe the microwave is why we now have a severe epidemic of GERD/Acid Reflux. I'm sure it's doing something to the lining of our stomachs.I also think Aspartame, which was introduced at the same time as microwave ovens has something to do with why I'm sick, as well.We are definitely products of our current living times. And it's killing us, slowly.

Wow! - Cause of ME - EMR, chemical toxicity, heavy metals, pathogens
Wow! I am speechless. Well almost, I have to say something. Paul thank you very, very much for all the time and effort you put into writing this and posting it here. I am very impressed. What you say should really make everyone think a second time. I think you have something here in the cause or at the very least a component in what may very well be keeping those of us with ME/CFIDS sick. Someone miscategorized your article saying ME was caused by microwaves. You clearly state several other possible options, most of which everyone agrees with. You also stated several good ways to Detox from different poisons that may be negatively affecting us. Thanks for that it's always good to be reminded! I am going to look into finding places that have the least amount of EMR exposure in Los Angeles, if that's even possible. It's worth a try. If you have any information in this regard it would be most appreciated. I noticed you are new here and hope you continue to post. And thanks again for writing such a detailed and eye opening post. Much thanks!!!LADude

Thanks Paul and I too believe
there is a lot to these microwaves..I live in a small town near the ocean and each time a cell company wants to install towers, we have town hall city meetings and many come o ut to argue against these being installed in their neighborhoods. The cell companies win out and the towers are installed. TECHNOLOGY....At this later time in my life I feel fortunate that I didn't grow up in the cell world. I've never bought into the microwave oven world, just NEVER felt right to go there. My parents NEVER used one and I had NO need for one. Just the thought of "nuking" my food makes me ill. Also, never bought a cell phone, was close many times for "emergency" sake, but so far at this later time, just don't need it. Of course, I have concern for my daughter and my grandkids who are being raised in this technology. And I can only bring this to their attention so they are more "aware" of this potential damage. Thanks for your commentary here. More reason for me to hang out near my beloved Pacific Ocean and get all those negative ions. I feel a great sadness for so many who are suffering with all these health syndromes. we'll never know FOR SURE
what causes all the brain tumors and cancers in general, but for my way of thinking I wo uld rather err on the side of caution and keep my body away from the radiations. take care..jam PS: Thinking back over my life, I wonder how I made it to 70 without a cell phone? And raised a daughter alone. And worked for 40 yrs. How Did I Do It? The world has become addicted to these things. [This Message was Edited on 12/07/2008]

Use A Bluetooth Ear Piece
Some studies have shown differences in people who have used cell phones for prolonged periods. This doesn't happen when the bluetooth ear pieces are used and the phone itself is removed from the side of the head. I watched Dr. Sanjay Gupta present the data. He agreed that for the price of an ear piece, he would rather err on the side of safety.BTW, leave cell phones inside the car when filling up with gas. Never talk on one when doing this. It can cause flash fires which can consume the car, and everything near it, in seconds.Love, Mikie
jole12/8/08 8:25 AM
How many studies have been wrong?
We all know we can't trust everything we read....and what works for one will not work for all. Paul, I'm sure you believe this totally and it has worked for you. BUT....I have had all the above symptoms since I was born....I have never been "normal", and in the late 40's, 50's there were no cell phones, microwaves, etc. to blame this on. A mother of one of my classmates had all these symptoms also...unfortunately, they thought she was "crazy" and she was given shock treatments to cure her! When I was small, rheumatic fever was rampant in my area, and the doctor was sure that was what I had....so I was sent to the Children's Hospital in Denver for tests. They were completely baffled...so many of my Sx were of rheumatic fever, but none of the test results came back positive. So it went for the rest of my life....negative tests for everything.Sooooo, in my case, at least, radiation had nothing to do with my final diagnosis. I'll bet there are many others my age who can say the same thing. We have seen many "supposed" reasons for our DD and we can't all live in total isolation in a mountain to get away from mold, radiation, polution, etc. Just my opinion ***Jole***

Every symptom has multiple causes
The fact that CFS occurred before cell phones and microwaves is completely irrelevant since there are already multiple causes known to cause these symptoms. Lyme disease can cause CFS but everyone with CFS doesn't test positive for Lyme so there is obviously more than one cause. The one cause hypothesis (meaning that there's only one cause of CFS or another condition so any trigger that didn't exist when CFS started couldn't possibly cause it) has been thoroughly disproven. It only means that microwaves aren't the ONLY cause (which no one is claiming). Therefore, microwaves could easily cause CFS in some people.[This Message was Edited on 12/08/2008]

I think I may take a vacation
if I can find a non-polluted place in US to see if it helps. I wonder how long it would take to notice a difference.

Check out Hawaii
or Bermuda or Fiji or Aruba. Sounds good to me.

jamin, thanks for suggestions
They all seem like good places to visit although a bit expensive. I need someplace cheap. I was thinking about maybe Puerto Rico or someplace in the middle of nowhere like West Virginia.

You must reside on the East Coast
Puerto Rico would be my choice. Go to the warmth. And SUN...how about some Natural Vit D...SUN.

Very Interesting Post Paul
I read this and found it really informative.I remember going to the home of my niece....she had just had wall lights closed off in her bedroom ....But I could still smell the electric in the walls. We had a new TV and I said to my hubby ....I can smell electric ..........6 hours later the TV went on fire!My hubby has had a pace maker fitted and has been told not to stand near microwave ovens.I cannot wear magnetic bracelets for my arthritis or use fridge magnets beacause it could affect him!!!!!!Here in the UK there have been reports for years about power lines causing clusters of cancer in kids..... But the people in power always deny it.All the parents believe it to be true though! They are the ones who have to deal with their sick kids and get fobbed off.I would NEVER live near power lines!!My sister was ALWAYS on her mobile(cell)phone and she started suffering with so many really painful headaches. She stopped using it and is now better.ARE OUR CELL PHONES WIPING OUT OUR BEES??I found this really interesting Paul...................I have been reading and listening to reports about this and was surprised to read it in your post!I googled Colony Collapse Disorder and found so much info about this phenominen(sp)and I looked at one site that explained it all so well.It talks about Wi Fi radiation and how wireless communication is causing peolple to get ill.Cell phones use eletromagnetic radiation and some experts beleive this is harmful to human health so surely cell phone masts must pose a greater threat?German research shows that bees behaviour changes near power lines. And a study at Laudau University found that bees refuse to return to their hives when cell phones are placed nearby! Also on this board I have read about lots of people who have mentioned about their TVs turning off or changing channels when they walk past them............or their PCs acting up when they are near them?????So surely electicity can cause us problems???I always get electric shocks from car door handles..... I never used to till I got sick.....weird!The site I looked at was....its a bit long lolwww.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/are-mobile-phones-wiping-out-our-bees-444768.html-62KOr just google CCD. I am from the UK and the INDEPENDENT is one of our top news papers. Please take the time to look at this because I think as the world goes more and more technical we need to understand what electomagnetic sensitivity is doing to our bodies.Rena

Post hoc ergo propter hoc -- interesting article
post hoc fallacyThe post hoc ergo propter hoc (after this therefore because of this) fallacy is based upon the mistaken notion that simply because one thing happens after another, the first event was a cause of the second event. Post hoc reasoning is the basis for many superstitions and erroneous beliefs. Many events follow sequential patterns without being causally related. For example, you have a cold, so you drink fluids and two weeks later your cold goes away. You have a headache so you stand on your head and six hours later your headache goes away. You put acne medication on a pimple and three weeks later the pimple goes away. You perform some task exceptionally well after forgetting to bathe, so the next time you have to perform the same task you don't bathe. A solar eclipse occurs so you beat your drums to make the gods spit back the sun. The sun returns, proving to you the efficacy of your action. You use your dowsing stick and then you find water. You imagine heads coming up on a coin toss and heads comes up. You rub your lucky charm and what you wish for comes true. You lose your lucky charm and you strike out six times. You have a "vision" that a body is going to be found near water or in a field and later a body is found near water or in a field. You have a dream that an airplane crashes and an airplane crashes the next day or crashed the night before. However, sequences don't establish a probability of causality any more than correlations do. Coincidences happen. Occurring after an event is not sufficient to establish that the prior event caused the later one. To establish the probability of a causal connection between two events, controls must be established to rule out other factors such as chance or some unknown causal factor. Anecdotes aren't sufficient because they rely on intuition and subjective interpretation. A controlled study is necessary to reduce the chance of error from self-deception [This Message was Edited on 12/09/2008]
kjm12/9/08 1:29 PM
I am not sure where you get the idea that there are at "least 10 known causes of CFS". Nothing has been proven, so far. Correlations have been made. People with CFS have been shown, in some cases, to have a higher viral load than "normal". This is proof of nothing -- it is a correlation. You took what I said and gave it new meaning. I posed a rhetorical question -- how do you know that your "10 known causes of CFS" are not in fact symptoms of one underlying cause? It was just food for thought. If research ever proves there is one cause for CFS, then the name will undoubtedly be changed. This has happened with other conditions.Kina.

How Bogus Scientific Studies Are Created
ladude, you are right. Corporations can pay to have bogus studies done that fail to prove their products are unsafe. This has been done repeatedly. The best example is the hundreds of studies, all sponsored by Big Tobacco, that show cigarettes are safe and don't cause lung cancer. Look up "Council for Tobacco Research" for more info. Here' one example of how they do it. The MSG industry did several studies that showed MSG didn't cause headaches or any other symptoms when compared to a placebo. What they didn't state is that their "placebo" was made up of glutamate and aspartame. Considering that MSG is monosodium gluatmate and that the glutamate is the problem, it's no wonder the amount of headaches were the same in both groups. Also, they knew that MSG and aspartame cause the same reactions.Regarding aspartame, one study found, "Of the 166 studies felt to have relevance for questions of human safety, 74 had Nutrasweet® industry related funding and 92 were independently funded. One hundred percent of the industry funded research attested to aspartame's safety, whereas 92% of the independently funded research identified a problem."Source - http://www.dorway.com/peerrev.htmlArticle - How Bogus Scientific Studies Are Createdhttp://www.cancertutor.com/Other/BogusScience.html

Thankyou all you smart people .I an stimulated muchly by this discussion?dialogue..Will come back on a day when My brain is better but for now I want to say that during a recent interview with one of our leading Interviewers on Oz TV a very respected and somewhat radical brain neurosurgeon said he does not use a cell phone because he is not convinced they are safe..Also has anyone ever sat in one of those electrical Massage chairs. I did and had waves of nausea..Yes i think I am an old hippy and somewhat distrustful of research also, but I like and respect you very much GAPSCH

Thanks for your replies!
First of all, regarding some of the replies, it helps me remember why I stopped posting on these lists in the first place! However, having said that, there does seem to be more receptibility out there now so I will continue to post. (Actually, when I tried to post something on this list about a year ago, the post was deleted and I was banned from posting.)
I would like to say that first off all, science is about making logical inferences based on facts -- and it is not about regurtitating what some so-called (or self-proclaimed) "expert" tells us. Unfortunately, a lot of the science that is out there today has been manipulated for corporate profits and cannot be trusted by those of us willing to do some digging and to find out exactly who is paying for the "science." Check out Dr. George C. Carlo's (who ran a 25 million dollar research program for the wireless communications industry between 1993 and 1999) latest article on this subject: When we get more facts (if we are open to them) then we should rearrange our thinking to fit the facts (and not the other way around as in twisting the facts to fit our own egocentric thinking.) Often -- too often -- it ends up being more about egos than the Truth. Sometimes people's egos are threatened by information, by facts, by the Truth. Why? Because those with huge Egos fear nothing more than being "Wrong." And they more than anyone else will try to make you or anyone else wrong (and hence themselves right) to boost their own ego! Supposedly highly qualified scientists have told us more times than we can count in the past that cigarettes were good for our health and that it was perfectly safe to take Thalidomyde -- though we all know now that these statements were completely false!Furthermore, while the first continental commercial cell phone network was set up in the USA in 1984 (mysteriously the same year people started to get CFIDS/ME in the USA in droves) microwave radiation and other forms of radio-frequency radiation have been with us for much longer in the form of radar and radio and television frequencies -- at least since about the 1940s! The Russians came up with the term "Microwave Sickness" in the 1970s and the American government has known about this problem for much longer (but has chosen to keep a tight lid on the information). Paul Bordeau wrote a book in the mid to late 70s called "The Zapping of America" for anyone lucky to get a copy. (I have personally been trying for some time now.)I will post some of my own research on this site under other topics for those interested in learning more. Oh yes! It can only be mere speculation with regards to the theory that CFIDS/ME have been around for hundreds of years. There is no way to prove anything like this! However, it has been established that people can and are affected by breaks in the earth's own electromagnetic field and this has come to be called "geopathic stress." Furthermore, Dr. Robert O. Becker (twice nominated for the Nobel Prize for his work on cell dedifferentiation) outlines in his book "The Body Electric" how he was able to determine that there were indeed increased admissions to psychiatric wards when the sun was giving off more electromagnetic radiation in the form of solar flares.Nature 205, 1050 - 1052 (13 March 1965); doi:10.1038/2051050a0 Psychiatric Ward Behaviour and Geophysical ParametersHOWARD FRIEDMAN, ROBERT O. BECKER & CHARLES H. BACHMANVeterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, New York, and State University of New York Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse University, New YorkSo given that the artificial electromagnetic radiation that we are all exposed to on a daily basis is tens of thousands of times stronger than what we would get from natural sources like the Earth, the Sun, and the stars, I think it isn't too hard to fathom (to make a logical leap of faith) that we are all indeed being affected by this. I think a three-year-old should even be able to figure this out! :)Regards, paul doyon

Who do you think funds studies that conclude cell phones, wi fi, etc. are not causing damage to our environment or humans? Perhaps I am too cynical (there is a lot to be cynical about these days) but I will bet that original sources of funds are the very companies that pollute our environment with microwaves. Who has the most incentive to disprove claims that these microwaveing products cause harm? Does anyone remember the results of the tobacco company studies? Does anyone remember the heads of these companies testifying in front of congress indicating that tobacco does not cause harm? Do you recall the headlines on the front pages of newspapers when the TRUTH came out? Did your state get a multi-million dollar settlement from the tobacco companies? And were not many financial companies just telling the public a few short months ago that they were solvent and thriving? And did they get bailed out recently? Do you think it is possible that we are being lied to by the entities that run these wireless services? If you believe that we are not being lied to about pollution from wireless services then please contact me. I have a small island for sale at a very good price in the Mojave.I do not claim to know what causes these dd's. I do believe that it is likely that this pollution that I do not understand is a contributing factor for some of us and for others just another irritant or worse. I read this board and learn of endless tests and supplements and efforts made by many, many people here and I have to wonder where it will all lead. Somedays it just makes me want to cry for all here and for myself. I wonder if any of us will get past trying to get better and actually get better. Nevertheless, tomorrow, I will get up from my bed and plod along as best I can. I will keep reading this board and I will move along at my own speed trying to find my way back to wellness. Not one of us here (or anywhere else for that matter) knows anything about these illnesses for certain except that it is debilitating to each and everyone of us to varying degrees and some find some relief but others do. I am grateful to find new explanations here that are presented articulately and with some background and support.

Astroturfing and Loser Trolls
It's a known fact that Microsoft not only pays supposedly "independent" bloggers to make posts that appear favorable to its interests. It is also a known fact that it pays (what I describe as) losers to troll the net (i.e. loser trolls) to make posts also favorable to its interests!Don't you think that the cell phone/wireless communications industry is very aware of the "possible" dangers posed by microwave radiation and that it too hires these loser trolls to crawl the Internet looking to respond negatively to posts which might cast this industry in an unfavorable light? This is almost a trillion-dollar-in-profits-a-year industry! They have plenty of money to do this and much much more to influence public opinion. It would be silly to think that they weren't and I suspect that some of the posts here are from those loser trolls:http://boycottnovell.com/2007/11/23/astroturfing-microsoft-examples/

Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity: Biological Effects of Dirty Electricity
Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity: Biological Effects of Dirty Electricity with Emphasis on Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis Author: Magda Havas Affiliation: Environmental and Resource Studies, Trent University, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada DOI: 10.1080/15368370601044192 Publication Frequency: 4 issues per year Published in: Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine, Volume 25, Issue 4 December 2006 , pages 259 - 268 Subjects: Cell Biology; Molecular Biology; Abstract Dirty electricity is a ubiquitous pollutant. It flows along wires and radiates from them and involves both extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields and radio frequency radiation. Until recently, dirty electricity has been largely ignored by the scientific community. Recent inventions of metering and filter equipment provide scientists with the tools to measure and reduce dirty electricity on electrical wires. Several case studies and anecdotal reports are presented. Graham/Stetzer (GS) filters have been installed in schools with sick building syndrome and both staff and students reported improved health and more energy. The number of students needing inhalers for asthma was reduced in one school and student behavior associated with ADD/ADHD improved in another school. Blood sugar levels for some diabetics respond to the amount of dirty electricity in their environment. Type 1 diabetics require less insulin and Type 2 diabetics have lower blood sugar levels in an electromagnetically clean environment. Individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis have better balance and fewer tremors. Those requiring a cane walked unassisted within a few days to weeks after GS filters were installed in their home. Several disorders, including asthma, ADD/ADHD, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, are increasing at an alarming rate, as is electromagnetic pollution in the form of dirty electricity, ground current, and radio frequency radiation from wireless devices. The connection between electromagnetic pollution and these disorders needs to be investigated and the percentage of people sensitive to this form of energy needs to be determined. Keywords: Diabetes; Dirty electricity; Electromagnetic hypersensitivity; Multiple sclerosis; Power quality; Radio frequency

United States National Radio Quiet Zone
United States National Radio Quiet ZoneFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe United States National Radio Quiet Zone is a large area of land surrounding the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) near Green Bank, West Virginia. It is a rectangle of land approximately 13,000 square miles in size and straddles the border of Virginia and West Virginia; it was picked because it has a unique topography that screens out most incoming radio signals, allowing the Green Bank telescopes to receive signals that are otherwise too quiet to be heard over the normal radio background. This was established by the Federal Communications Commission in 1958 to protect the facilities' radio telescopes from harmful interference. Omnidirectional and high-power transmissions are frowned upon, and fixed radio links are often built as tight-beam directional links in order to avoid overloading the signal amplifiers in the telescope systems. The National Radio Quiet Zone also protects the antennas and receivers of the Navy Information Operations Command Sugar Grove, West Virginia. NIOC Sugar Grove has long been the home of electronic intelligence gathering systems, and is today said to be a key station in the ECHELON system operated by the NSA.Not all radio transmissions are prohibited, but station owners must typically coordinate their operations (e.g. Allegheny Mountain Radio) with representatives of the NRAO. Most radio transmitters within the area are licensed, and exceptions are usually determined on a case-by-case basis, with preference given to public safety concerns.
